7.30pm - Opening Ceremony from Eden Park live on the waterfront big screens
Eden Park
.8:00pm - Sound and light show – Auckland's biggest and brightest fireworks and light show set to music composed specially for the occasion by Don McGlashan
Eden Park
Nobody attending the event will be able to see all of it live. Regardless of where you are you will see parts of the event live and the rest on the big screens.
While the overall event site has room for approximately 50,000 people, Queens Wharf’s capacity is 12,000 so it is expected to fill up early. Gates open at 3pm.
Patrons at the Eastern Viaduct will see the arrival of the 20 waka up close followed by a mass haka from 600 kaihoe. They will view the rest of the event on big screens.
Those on Quay St will see the procession of 600 kaihoe to Queens Wharf with multiple big screens to bring them the rest of the event.

What's your plan?
Friday 9 September is going to be a busy evening in Auckland, so make sure you have a plan to get the best out of Opening Night. Here are some tips to make it easy.
For those going to Opening Night on the waterfront:
Consider finishing work early to give plenty of time to get there. Queens Wharf has limited capacity so we encourage people to arrive early.
The roads and public transport will be very Quay Streetbusy, so city workers should either stay in town and be part of the fun or get out of the CBD by 3.30pm.
There are plenty of car park options in the CBD, but those driving should make a plan and get there early.
and the surrounding area will be closed, so avoid driving near there or make any essential trips or deliveries early.
There are plenty of options available for getting into the CBD on public transport, with some services continuing until the early hours. Visit maxx.co.nz for more info.
Queens Wharf will be licensed, but liquor bans will be in place throughout the CBD. This will ensure everyone - including families - has a great time.
For people going to the Opening Match:
Try the Fan Trail walk to Eden Park and enjoy the entertainment and hospitality along the way.
Special event public transport is free with a match ticket and one of the best ways of getting to the match.
No matter how you are getting to the game, plan to be in your seat by 7pm at the latest for the Opening Ceremony and kick-off so you don't miss a thing.
