    Gannon University Rank:
Gannon University for the eighth consecutive year is ranked as a top-tier university in the new, 2012 edition of U.S. News & World Report’s “America’s Best Colleges.”
In addition to maintaining its Top Tier ranking, Gannon University was named for the sixth year to the list of Great Schools, Great Prices compiled by U.S. News & World Report. This is a list of best value schools and takes into account colleges’ and universities’ academic quality and net cost of attendance for a student receiving the average level of need-based financial aid.
“This is an exciting time for Gannon University, with the opening of North Hall, our new residence hall, and our very positive undergraduate enrollment figures,” said Keith Taylor, Ph.D., Gannon University’s new president. “This fall we enrolled 675 first-time college students, which is the largest number we’ve seen in 18 years and 40 more new undergraduate students than last fall.”
More about the rankings for regional universities such as Gannon In terms of the overall rankings, Gannon is 52nd out of 183 in the northern region of the guide’s category for Best Regional Universities. Regional Universities, as defined by U.S. News & World Report, provide a full range of undergraduate majors and master’s programs. In addition, the institutions in the regional universities category are ranked against their peers in four separate geographic areas: North, South, Midwest and West.
Gannon saw notable improvements in several of the categories used to rank schools:
    • Overall score – from 48 in the current guide compared with 45 in last year’s edition.
    • Average graduation rate – an increase to 66 percent from 64 percent.
    • Percentage of classes under 20 students – an increase to 58 percent from 53 percent.
    • SAT/ACT 25th-75th percentile – an increase to 910-1160 from 890-1150.
    • Freshmen in top 25 percent of high school class – an increase to 55 percent from 50 percent.
    • Acceptance rate – a decline to 80 percent from 84 percent. (The decline indicates a greater selectivity in the admissions process.)
    • “We are enrolling more students while continuing to recruit academically talented students who rank at or near the top of their high school classes,” Taylor said.
The current edition of “America’s Best Colleges” marks the sixth time Gannon has earned the distinction of being honored as one of the Great Schools, Great Prices. Only 15 institutions in the northern region are selected for this category.
Gannon also fared well relative to the other schools in the northern region in two specific categories: Gannon had the third highest percentage of students receiving grants based on financial need and the third lowest average cost after taking into account grants based on financial need.
