السلام عليكم ..

أنا راسلت معهد اللغة ELI التابع لجامعة UOU بولاية يوتا ، و قالي إذا سجلت عندنا راح توصلك رسالة القبول بالشكل هذا :

Dear Sir/Madam:

This letter is to verify that : Student Name has been conditionally admitted to the English Language Institute, University of Utah, to be enrolled full-time starting from January 7, 2008.

Upon successful completion of the ELI Bridge course (level 7 and 8), Student Name may be transferred to the University of Utah without a TOEFL score for undergraduate studies.

طبعاً أنا ماستر و أكيد لازم أجيب درجة في التوفل 500 ( ما يكفي المعهد ) ، لكل السؤال اللي يطرح نفسه ، هل يعتبر هذا القبول قبول مشروط من الجامعة ؟ يعني إذا خلصت من المعهد و جبت درجة التوفل و معدلي فوق 3 من 4 .. الخ أدخل الجامعة على طول ؟

صراحة صيغت القبول توحي بكذا ، خاصة لطلبة البكالوريوس ، لكن العجيب و الغريب إن المعهد ما يطلب مني كشف الدرجات ولا التوصيات و لا من هذه الأوراق !

اللي فهمته من الخطاب بانها افادة بان الطالب الفلاني قد تحصل على قبول مشروط وذلك في مركز اللغة التابع لجامعة يوتا وذلك حتى يلتحق كطالب منتظم ابتداء من 7 جانوري 2008
عند انهاء المستويات التابعه للمعهد (المستوى السابع والثامن) فان الطالب الفلاني ربما يحول للجامعة دون اختبار التوفل وذلك لطلاب البكالوريوس

ليه ماتراسلهم وتسأل اذا كان يحتاج توفل ولا لابعد انهاء المستويات اعتقد فية بس يمكن تنهى مستويات اعلى اذا كان فيه

وان شاء الله يكون صح وتنقبل قبول مشروط بدون اختبار توفل

هلا أخوي SOFATEN ..

أنا أعرف إن الجامعة تقبل 500 في التوفل ، لكن هذه مو المشكلة ، أقدر أختبر توفل و أجيب الدرجة بحول الله ، لكن هل يعتبر هذا قبول جامعة مشروط ؟ ولا فقط قبول معهد ؟

يعني بصيغة ثانية ، هل أراسل الجامعة علشان آخذ من عندها ورقة قبول مشروط باجتياز التوفل ( 500 ) ، و اختبار الـ GRE ؟

طبعاً من خلال مراسلاتي مع مسؤولة المعهد كان هذا الرد :

Dear Abdulaziz,

Thank you very much for your interest to study at the University of Utah.
Let me now answer your questions.
1. To be admitted to the English Language Program, you need to apply online, submit your passport BIO page (by fax), $65 application processing fee, and a proof of financial support, that means, a letter from the Ministry of Higher Education confirming your scholarship. Upon receiving these documents, we'll send you an I-20 Form of Eligibility to apply for a student visa in American Consulate.

2. Although the English Language Institute is a part of the University of Utah, we cannot give you a letter of a conditional admission to a University graduate school.
We have had quite a few students from Saudi Arabia and they all came to study at the ELI first and then transferred to either U of U graduate/ undergraduate studies or to other American Universities to their choice. We sent them a letter of admission to the ELI where we said that after completing the ELI program and passing the TOEFL and GRE or GMAT this student will be transferred to the University of Utah's graduate or undergraduate studies. You will also need to meet other University requirements like GPA of 2.6 and higher (depending on graduate school requirements) from your previous school.

We can only admit you to the English Language Institute and help you prepare for a graduate program. We cannot guarantee your admission, it depends on the results of TOEFL and other tests, and GPA.

The EL:I Executive Secretary will send you a sample of a letter that we gave to other Saudi students. If your Ministry will accept it, you can start the application process.

طبعاً لو ربطت بين الكلام في هذه الرسالة و بين خطاب القبول اللي راح يرسلونه ، أجد فيه تناقضات ! مرة نقبلك قبول مشروط و مرة ما نقدر نعطيك قبول مشروط في graduate school !!
