USF Graduate Programs Ranked Tops by U.S. News & World Report

TAMPA, Fla. (April 23, 2009) – Several of the University of South Florida’s graduate programs are among the top in the nation according to the U.S. News & World Report’s 2010 America’s Best Graduate Schools report released today. Seven programs rated in the top 50 while seven others are in the top 100.

The industrial and organizational psychology program is ranked eighth in the nation, up two spots from its #10 position last year. It is the only psychology specialty program in Florida ranked in the report.
USF’s public health program came in at #20 for the second year in a row, a reflection of the college’s work in social marketing, global health and infectious disease, maternal and child health, and distance learning programs.
The newly-formed College of Behavioral & Community Sciences is home to five of the 14 ranked programs: criminology (#22), audiology (#24), rehabilitation counseling (#39), speech-language pathology (#46), and social work (#71).
Rounding out the top 50 is library and information studies coming in at #29. It is just one of two library programs in the state ranked on the list. The program offers courses in several sites across the state and is accredited by the American Library Association.
Other USF programs ranked this year by U.S. News & World Report are education (#54), clinical psychology (#57), physical therapy (#69), social work (#71), nursing (#72), psychology (#74), and fine art (#81).

The 2010 America's Best Graduate Schools edition includes more than 1,500 graduate school programs in business, law, medicine, health disciplines, education, engineering, sciences, fine arts, library and information studies, public affairs, social sciences and the humanities.
