II am a saudi-american citizen studying in the United States on my own expense; I don't have the scholarship, but planning to apply for it. To study medicine in the America, you need to have a bachelor's degree in any field. It's not necessary to be in science, but u need to have the required courses completed such as Chemistry, Biology, Physics, etc... At the end of the third year of your bachelor's, you need to take the MCAT; it's a very difficult exam to evaluate your science and english skills. To be competitive for medicine, you need to maintain at least a 3.5/4 GPA and score at least 30/45 on the MCAT. Usually, students apply to medical schools a year before graduating with the bachelor's degree. Because of the high competition, many students apply to at least 30 different schools. As an international student, you need to apply mainly to private schools instead of the public ones. If everything goes well, you will start interviewing at schools in your fourth year; therefore, you'll have an acceptance before you graduate.

Medical school in America is 4 years long: The first two years you study about the anatomy, the biochemistry, and the pathology of the body. In the final two years, you do clinical rotations. Medical school in America is no joke and you will need to be very committed.

At the end of the first two years of medical school, you take the first part of USMLE, and usually it's the most important one of them. After the final two years, you will take the second part of the test. Based on your scores in both parts of this exam you will be matched into one of your specialties of interests.
