    Entry Requirements
    The MSc in Internet Systems and eBusiness is aimed at those with a degree in a subject other than computing, who want to train in up-to-date computing.     The course is designed to meet a significant need for skilled electronic commerce technologists, by preparing IT specialists for the next 5-10 years of growth in e-business. The IT industry has identified a critical shortage of e-commerce specialists who are familiar not only with existing technologies, but also the leading edge.     MSc in E-Commerce Engineering with Law
    Awarding Body: Queen Mary, University of London

    Course Description
    This MSc programme has been specifically created to cater for this demand and aims to produce high quality Master's graduates in Internet Computing with a full range of complementary business/economics skills and knowledge. The programme is a joint collaboration between the Electronic Engineering Department and the Centre for Commercial Law Studies. It consists of eight course units - five technical and three which concentrate on legal issues - plus a compulsory law orientation weekend. This MSc programme consists of the following courses: Semester 1 Internet Infrastructure; Advanced Software Technologies; Network Computing Internet Technologies; Law Orientation Weekend (compulsory but not assessed as part of the degree). Semester 2 Protocols for the Electronic Marketplace; Intelligent Agents and Multi-agent Systems; Background Law Preparatory Work (compulsory but not assessed as part of the degree); May-August Project. Semester 3A choice of three Law courses (subject to availability) taught by the Centre for Commercial Law Studies from the following list of options: Computer Crime; IT Outsourcing; Internet ******* Regulation; Intellectual Property Foundation; European Telecoms Law; International Telecommunications Law; Privacy and Data Protection Law; e-Commerce; Trade Marks and Domain Names.

    Assessment method
    Students are required to take written examinations in May/June. To obtain an MSc, the individual must gain passes in six of the eight modules taken. The pass mark is 50 per cent for individual modules, but compensation is allowed for failure of up to two modules, provided the mark in the module is not less than 30 per cent. The MSc requires that a satisfactory project should be completed in addition to passing the written examinations. A distinction is awarded when both the project and the overall average (exams eight units and project four units) is 70 per cent or above. Students who do not pass the written examinations are only allowed to attempt the project after passing resit examinations the following May.

    E-Commerce can be defined as the buying and selling of goods and services on the Internet, especially the World Wide Web. It covers such aspects as marketing, advertising, sales order processing and customer service. The MSc e-Commerce Business pathway is an applications pathway, concentrating on the development of *******. They will be required to analyse requirements, synthesis appropriate solutions and evaluate the effectiveness of their proposals. This course covers the following Modules: Research Methods; Innovation and Business Development; Web Design and Usability; Inter-networking and Security; Web System Design and Implementation; e-Commerce Law and Marketing.

    Entry Requirements
    Honours degree in an appropriate discipline. For graduates of non-UK universities, sufficient command of spoken and written English to meet the demands of the programme - TOEFL 550 or *****alent. Candidates with relevant experience who lack the normal entry qualifications are welcome to apply.

    E-Commerce can be defined as the buying and selling of goods and services on the Internet, especially the World Wide Web. It covers such aspects as marketing, advertising, sales order processing and customer service. A typical e-Commerce site would include a range of facilities and functions, beyond those expected of a traditional web site. For example, stock databases, catalogues, search engine, ordering system, security, order tracking, customer management and stock management.
